Dr. Susan Andersen is currently an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She received her Ph.D. from the State University of New York in Binghamton, and went to McLean Hospital for her post-doctoral fellowship where she is the Director of the Laboratory of Developmental Neuropharmacology. Dr. Andersen is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society, serves on the editorial boards for the journals, Psychopharmacology, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Synapse, and has recently co-edited the book “The Neurobiology of Childhood” with Dr. Daniel Pine and published by Springer. She also serves on the executive board of the National Prevention Science Coalition, which aims to help our most vulnerable populations achieve their fullest potential. Dr. Andersen’s interests focus on normal and abnormal changes in the developing brain, but also on its resilence when exposed to a preventative intervention. Her approach is multi-faceted, including neuroimaging, behavior, and biochemisty, and translational in nature with relevance to ADHD, addiction, and depression.
