El projecte Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) ha creat un mapa públic d’expressió i regulació gènica a través de múltiples teixits humans. Aquest recurs ja està proporcionant informació valuosa sobre els mecanismes específics de la regulació de gens en teixits, donant lloc a estudis sobre l'expressió de trets quantitatius loci (eQTLs), splicing alternatiu i interpretació dels estudis que associen el genoma i els mecanismes de les malalties.

El projecte GTEx ha completat la recollida de mostres de 960 donants i actualment està avançant el Control de Qualitat de les dades i la seva difusió, que estendrà els paquets de seqüències d’ARN fins a 18-20.000 teixits. Els exomes i la seqüència completa del genoma també estaran disponibles per a tots els donants.

La trobada GTEx Community es porta a terme anualment i està oberta a la comunitat científica que està interessada a aprendre més sobre el projecte, sobre les dades o que ja estan utilitzant la informació disponible en les seves investigacions. S'han celebrat reunions anteriors als EUA, al Broad Institute (2014), a la Universitat de Chicago (2015) i a la Universitat de Stanford (2016). Aquest any, per primera vegada, la reunió es durà a terme a Europa, a Barcelona, després de la finalització de la fase principal de producció de GTEx data. La reunió tindrà lloc a l’Abril i té com a objectiu congregar la comunitat de científics de tot el món que estan utilitzant, o que busquen utilitzar la base de dades de GTEx.

A la reunió es posarà èmfasi en la recollida de mostres, en la inscripció dels donants, en els conjunts de dades actuals i els tipus disponibles, en les diverses eines desenvolupades per a aquest tipus de dades i, finalment, en els resultats de la seva aplicació.

Es destacarà la relació de GTEx amb projectes a gran escala i conjunts d’informació, com ENCODE, GWAS, Blueprint, FANTOM o altres programes de càncer, i es farà èmfasi en una sèrie de presentacions científiques que utilitzen GTEx data. Us encoratgem que participeu i presenteu abstracts per a xerrades o pòsters!

Aquesta edició del GTEx Project Community meeting està coorganitzada pel Cent re de Regulació Genòmica (CRG) i el B·Debate, una iniciativa de Biocat i l’Obra Social “la Caixa"
