Núria Casamitjana
Dr Núria Casamitjana Badia is Director of Training and Education at Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and Professor at the University of Barcelona. She holds a B.A. in Pharmacy and a Doctorate from the University of Barcelona, and a Master’s degree in Occupational Health from the University of Barcelona - University Pompeu Fabra.
She has over 30 years of experience as professor and researcher in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Barcelona (UB) She was responsible, together with Dr Pedro Alonso, for the creation of the Barcelona Centre for International Health Research (CRESIB) in 2006 and ISGlobal in 2010.
Dr Casamitjana has held key senior management positions at the UB, including University vice-chancellor between 2002 and 2005.
Currently, Dr Casamitjana is co-Director of the ISGlobal-University of Barcelona Master of Global Health and Coordinator of the International Health track Master of Clinical Research. She also coordinates Trans Global Health Erasmus Mundus Joint PhD Program and the track on International Health of the Medicine PhD program. She has also coordinated other specialized courses in global health, including the leadership courses on Science of Eradication: Malaria together with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health an Swiss TPH; and on Safe Mothers and Newborns together with the Maternal Task Force at the University of Harvard and the University Aga Khan.
She is President of tropEd, International Network for Education and Training in International Health, and member of the executive board of the World Federation of Academic Institutions for Global Health. She is also involved in the network Consortium of Universities for Global Health and Coordinator of the European initiative EIT-Health Education pillar at the University of Barcelona. Since 2015 she is Board and Executive Committee member of the Partnership for Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health representing the Academic, Research and Training institutions.
